I bred my conures (breeding pair) - they laid 5 eggs, and only 2 hatched, 5 days apart... 20 days later, they had stopped feeding the chicks, and the oldest died that morning... I have no idea that they would do this or why?

I managed to save the little one.. She also had an empty crop and was very weak... I have called her Squirt, and she has now been hand fed for 3 days... She gaining weight slowly and is very alert...

Here's some pics

I have no experience or knowledge when it comes to breeding, but I am sorry to hear that happened.
Squirt is absolutly adorable though!

There could be many reasons the eggs didn't hatch. is this their first clutch?

Hi Squirt!

I've heard neophyte parents sometimes do "screw up" the parenting thing. I'm sorry you lost a chick, but it seems you got to this little one in time, which is way better than a lot of scenarios.

Cute little Squirt!
