Meet my animals :) (pic heavy)

What a nice family you have!

I'd love to have a trained dog for protection! It can be a big liability though, but I think I would be a good trainer/owner for it. My mom used to be a mail carrier, and one time she got attacked by a trained attack dog (who was obviously not supposed to attack her). I think with the right socialization though, that can be avoided.

It can help if it is just huge and looks frightening. I had a German Shepard mix that was just an extremely frightening looking dog. He was 130lb and his eyes looked just like a wolf's. Everyone upon seeing him for the first time would freak out. But, he was a huge baby and very sweet. His looks did the trick though. I remember one guy I started dating told me he actually called a friend and said, "I don't know what to do. I like this lady but she has this huge guard dog that looks just like a wolf, and I'm afraid to be over there!" And this particular man was 6'4" and 270lbs:D And another time I had him with me when I stopped at a friend's auto shop. His father came around the front of my car to greet me, stopped in his tracks and I literally thought his eyes might pop out of his head. He looked like a cartoon. I don't think I've ever seen anyone look more shocked.

I got her from a friend who professionally trains dogs for the military and police force. She was trained to be a k-9 unit, but she was dog aggressive and rejected. I got her when she was 2 years old. I was honestly afraid to even meet her because my friend had a 1 hour conversation with me prior to meeting the dog. Basically warning me. She advised me to not give her any eye contact, talk to her, basically ignore her. So I went to her house, they were outside playing. I got out of my car and she ran straight up to me and gave me a hug(stood up on her hind legs and wrapped her arms around me) then jumped in my car lol. But she hates me(was trained by a women). She will not let anyone go near me except my boyfriend, but I can let you in my house with her sitting next to me without a collar or leash on and as long as you act like she is not there or get up and move towards me, she will not even so much as look at you. I have a fenced in yard with "Warning Guard Dog" posted all over my fence. If someone were to break into my house, in my state, the only way you are NOT liable for the burglar suing you is a dog.

Now, someone walking down the street/mail man/etc who gets bit is a different story, but she is in the fence during the day and knows that is her place to stay until I bring her in at night. The one thing I can't stand though is my friends telling me "all dogs love me" and attempt to pet her(I have her leashed if friends are over and I ALWAYS tell every person that comes in contact with my dog NOT to touch her) yet still they insist that they have some special ability to connect with dogs and attempt to stick their hand out for her to sniff. Good way to get your fingers taken off. :headwall:

Yes, that works too lol. I had a 98lb Doberman who everyone was terrified of because he looked so mean, but he was the biggest baby. My neighbors children would ride him around like a horse :p
