Well I did call the cops and they asked me what were they supposed to do they did not see any crime in progress .I made them make a report and I will call the aspca too and hand them a copy of the report . The one cop was not too happy he said they had better things to do . Oh well guess I took up his time . LOL > being sarcastic there folks . Oh well what else can I do ? I will call the aspca .

Geesh, I knew they wouldn't take it *too* seriously, but that is a bit ridiculous.

I (sort of) worked in law enforcement for a bit - and I generally have great respect for everyone who does. But saying they have better things to do? Really? It's an easy lie to tell, but unless there are violent criminals at large that they are actively in pursuit of, I don't think their coffee breaks and playing XBox in the squad-room really count as better things than dealing with a person who has demonstrated a clear lack of respect for life.

Again, it's not just severe neglect - someone effectively went out of their way to ensure that the birds would suffer a horrible death. Given how well established the correlation between cruelty to animals and psychopathology leading to violent acts towards other people is, police should take such things more seriously.

Thanks for reporting it. I need to go take some deep breaths.

I don't mean to imply that that's all they do. I know from experience they may go days without sleeping as they work on some horrible case. But then there are also many days that are so quiet they'd wish for something better to do than twiddle their thumbs. They should at least be able to put this sort of thing at the bottom of their to-do list and check into it on a really slow day. Same with stolen bicycles and the like ... at some point law enforcement became solely about dealing with the most extreme criminals rather than serving the community. Oh well, the world changes.

Oh yes the world changes but not for the better I might add .

How are Miss Thelma and Miss Baby doing?

That's terrible. >__< They're so beautiful! You gave them a second chance, lucky you found them.

Cops can be so freaking useless. If it's not in their best interest or they view it as not worth the time then the law does too. -__-

That's absolutely disgusting. Literally throwing your pets in the garbage when you feel that you don't want them anymore? Really? These deranged ***** don't even have the decency to call up a shelter, or at the very least, post an ad on craigslist or something or other... Wow is all I have to say.
Back in high school I had to serve 30 hours of community service for beating the **** out of some guy who I saw punt a cat across the road. In a situation like this, I'd gladly do it all over again.

At least the birds are in a good home now.

Make sure you follow up on the report!

I called the cops on my ex roommates, and when it came time to pick up the report for court, I found that there hadn't actually BEEN a report filed, just a call log, and it didn't make me look that great either. The guy hardly wrote down any details, and then didn't even make it into a report. I still had to pay the same fee for the copy of the call log as I would have for an actual report, but it didn't look nearly as good in court.

Even if it doesn't go to court, which I doubt you will, an actual police report is better than a call log, which is probably what they did.
