Hello guys,

I have come to notice red "pimples" or bumps on my macaws face.
Upon seeing it over a week ago we contacted a reputable macaw breeder and he suggested that it may just be a cut and that we should give it a few days to heal. It really hasnt healed although it does seem that the bumps are toning down. Also noticing a constant kind of facial flushing since having the bumps. (She turned 1 year old a few days ago aswell :) )

I have booked a vet appointment but there isnt many exotic bird specialists so I have a 3 day wait until my appointment. If anyone can shed more information it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

My guy gets these occasionally, but they go away on their own after a few days. I believe it may have something to do with what they get in contact with, like an allergic reaction of some sort.

It's always best to have a vet give her a look over, to rule out anything else. :)

I'm with Wendy here. Kyleigh hasn't had this before, but I do think it is safe to get her checked out by the vet.

Mine gets them on occasion, they go away after a few days. Some could be new feathers coming in...

Birds can get bitten by mosquitoes just like us, maybe she's been attacked in her sleep?

Please let us know what the vet says.

I would also suspect some sort of allergic reaction, but really I would only be guessing. I don't know.
