yes i read a lot of articles, i wanted to hear what other macaw owner do~
Oled my vet did the last trimming and I wasn't happy with it, that's why I am asking

When I trimmed before it was half way when the wing is fully extended. I guess its 7?

I take off the outer eight. In the winter she gets to grow 'em back & fly because all the doors & windows stay closed plus she IS a bird after all. A bit of a pain for us but she loves it.

I do a showclip where I leave the first two primary flight feathers and do the other five back and it works for my girl.. But if your not comfortable doing it then you might want to find someone with experience..

Remington got his wings and nails done Tuesday, removed the first 6~ I like it much better than the show clip!

Jake grows all his feathers in the winter as well. But he won't fly. It's like he's afraid or something. finally the other day I clipped the interior 3 on each side, leaving the 2 outer feathers, which I like. I use a small animal toenail clipper. it cradles the feather shaft perfectly.
