hey guys well friend has just got a macaw his first bird he was juat wanting find out whats the best diet to feed his bird each day.

i have one myself but me being a new owner aswell i thought would ask on here for myself as well we just want our babies to grow well thanks kyle :blue1:

starting from morning time till bed time

It depends on how old the macaw is. Since a young bird/baby is growing, you don't have to watch the amount of their food as much as with older birds. Our girls and Max get pellets, fruit/veggies and sprouts every day.

I did an internet search and saw that B&Gs should get about 1/2 cup of pellets every day, plus 1/2 cup of fruits and veggies. Here's the link, if you want to read the whole article.

Thanks for the help my macaw is 19 t0 20 weeks old my friends is 16 weeks old. yea i give mine good pellets but was just wandering should i feed them diffrent stuff at set times each day?

birds are hungriest in the morning so i tend to feed all the fresh food (fruits and veggies) then, so i know they're getting the goodness and plus they wont fill up on their pellets first, so the fresh food doesn't spoil. i leave the pellets, seeds, nuts in the dishes to pick at all day. i give boiled eggs (boiled for 15-20 mins and crushed up in the shells) about once a week, it spoils quickly though so take it out before bed. and birdie bread makes a nice treat, you can freeze it too so it lasts a long time!

crush the eggs and shells together??

crush the eggs and shells together??

I know, kinda weird isn't it? Our birds, especially Ruby, love eggs and chicken and turkey. But they only get a little now and then. They did get some turkey yesterday with the rest of us.

Eggs are full of nutrition!:D Dont feed it too often because too much protein can be bad for them. The shells are packed with calcium, you can bake it in the oven until the edges just start to turn brown. Remember that the eggs must be cooked very well.

Here is a website with some recipes.;)
