Lost then found, then lost another.

My neighbors lost their budgie, Sit chatterbox, 5 years ago. Recently he had been found, this morning I helped catch him but lost Chrissy while doing so. Chrissy and Opal were both locked on their travel cages and clipped! Chrissy is in a nearby tree, and Opal is in her locked cage by the tree, just waiting for him to come down. The two have been calling each other but he won't come out of the tree. It is in the 90s, I can't be outside long, I onlky go out for a couple minutes to spray Opal with warm water to keep her from having a heat stroke.
For predators I've seen crows and blue jays. I'm about to go out with Elvis and mist Opal again and check to make sure Chrissy hasn't gone farther. I used Chrissy and Opal to get my neighbors budgie back, but now I lost Chrissy. He's clipped he can do much.

It doesn't matter how hot it is outside. You should be out there with Chrissy. Let's see, he was locked on his travel cage and clipped, yet wound up in a tree? And it's too hot for you, but it's OK for Opal to be out in the heat? Spraying water on Opal is a bad idea, it's just going to make her afraid of water. Spray the water on yourself so you can stay cool if you need to, or put a wet towel on your shoulders. You are responsible for Chrissy being outdoor and for him escaping to a tree, so you are responsible for getting him back to safety regardless of your personal discomfort.

Seeing as how Chrissy already died once and then returned, I'm not sure how much weight to put on the current crisis. How about you do everybody a favor, find homes for all your birds, then don't get any more until you are mature enough to have your own place? You would be doing your birds the biggest favor, because then they won't get lost, sprayed with water, heat-stroked, poisoned with Miracle Gro, chewed up by cats, etc. We love humans here, we do, but humans can take care of themselves and a caged bird is helpless. Most people who are familiar with the history of your flock would love to see them find a safer home.

Glad you were able to catch the one lost bird, but not good you lost the other. On hot days like this it's probably best to refrain from any outside activity with birds, blipped, in travel cages, or whatever, the heat is real and can be a killer. Hope you can get your bird down, best of luck. I would move all other birds inside (in air conditioning) to keep them all cool. Can you access a ladder to get the one in the tree?

I hate to say this but it is very unlikely that Chrissy will come down on his own and you or someone will have to go up and fetch him. Birds for some reason do not like flying downwards. I am concerned with Opal being in such heat, please take care.

He had been up in the tree 2 hours before I posted. I only went inside twice during that time to get water and cool down a bit and the second time I decided to post while I was waiting on the ice maker.

No more free flight. No more.

I'm glad you have at least decided to stop putting your birds at risk by having them outside without harnesses or cages, as we have days many times that is a huge danger especially for such small birds. Hopefully this is the last "lesson" you have to learn that involved the death of a bird.

I am glad to know Elvis wont be at risk of flying away or getting eaten by a predator.
He is a beautiful bird, He reminds me of my Cheeky so much.

I am so sorry but a little bit confused. What bird would have gotten him? And your neighbor's bird has lived outside for five years before being rescued? Blue Jays steal other bird's eggs, they do not attack and eat grown birds. And Crows are scavengers. Once again I am confused.
