Here you go Wendy. This should give you an idea of what I'm talking about. See the metal circle at the top? It hangs over the door and you just flip it out of the way to open it.

I'm pretty sure that would work GREAT. As long as he can't open the feed door a little, then he can't unhinge it at all. And with that contraption, the doors should stay shut just fine.

I've been right where you are. Not with a macaw, but with an umbrella cockatoo.

I had a foster who was quite efficient at disassembling his cage. I'd come home from work and all 4 panels of the cage were lieing in a heap on the floor. I'd find the bird standing on top looking quite pleased with himself. This became a daily game and nearly everything I tried failed eventually. My last option was to have the cage permanently welded together... and so I did.

He wasn't so smart then!

While I'm sorry to hear your Houdini is challenging you - I' thankful for this post. The "new and improved latch" Kings Cage is what I'll be purchasing for our Macaw. At least I have a reference if s/he pulls the same trick!
