GCC (Jinx)
3x Goffin2 (Liam)(Mya)(Goose)
2x B&G Macaw (Cozzy)(Blue)
I know there are threads all over the site in regards to this type of thread. I have read them. My Goffin2 (Liam) is losing his damn mind, he is rubbing his beak, face, and vigorously going after his feathers. He is so itchy he is actually losing his damn mind, hes dancing around scratching. He wears a cone because he did self mutilate before I got him so we have been working on this for almost 2 years now. But in the last little while he has been bad. I have been giving him AviCalm, it doesnt do anything. I have given him camomile tea, doesnt make a difference. He has had fecal smears done and he doesnt have parasites. His skin is a little dry and a bit warm to the touch, what can I do to help my poor baby. Its killing me to watch him like this. Is cortisone injections an option for birds? I have fenbendazole, I may give him a dose just in case and he has been treated for mites as a preventative. Any help would be amazing, my bird vet isnt open until tuesday

Aloe Vera Juice.

Water...
About one cup to a liter... and just DOUSE him with it in a spray bottle a few times a day.

Believe me it helps. And if he eats some by accident? Good for him.

Im thinking Im going to give him some L-lysine, helped my cat when she was experiencing allergies last year. I have determined he doesnt have fatty liver disease, and he doesnt have parasites. Since this started when it started to get green here in BC, I have to assume its allergies. I did bathe him and drench him in aloe gel, and prepared a mist for later. Does anyone know the dosage of lysine for birds?

It's one ounce to 16 ounces 1/16.

Being itchy and since your in Canada ( I used to Live up by Tmmins Ontario once, Not by choice, U.S. government choice), anyway. The water up in Canada is very hard water. I would suspect it plays a role here in his itching.

More oil is needed in his diet because Being that even right now, it's not warm there in Canada and you have heat on. Dry air will cause dry skin.
Add oil based foods to it's diet, bit of fish is good, add flax seed or preferably flax oil or fish oil to it's food or water. Try this for a while and try the spray as well.

I live in BC, it was 24 degrees cecius today. I also have water that has a Gh of 2 ppm and a Kh of 0....Not quite the same as Ontario. But thank you for trying anyways ;) And thank you very much for the dosage of lysine, appreciated as I couldnt find it anywhere online.
