Whats some funny/favorite story about your bird?

my lovebird loves copying sneezes, even with the motion! once when she was doing one of her 'sneezing sessions' with one foot on the cage wall and one on her toy, she was rather of balance, and she 'sneezed' so hard that she almost flipped over under herself!!

Giving me an excuse to tell a little tale. Okay, sure!


The closest the Rbird comes is a game one might call "Tour de Livingroom".
The Rb (flighted, fearless) will fly to an out-of-reach perch over the high wall-molding in the livingroom and engage in a rude behavior (screaming, name-calling, beaking something he has stolen)...
I yell at him to stop.
He won't.
I stand up and approach.
He still won't.
I grab a little portable ladder.
Now he knows I mean business.
He then flies to perch B, over the drapes, then perch C, on the chandelier (long since disabled, for safety), then the grandfather clock top mantel. Then back to the
high moulding. Same order, always. These are progressively lower perches. Teaser! Only ends when he gets tiered of it. The big rule: if I don't pursue with ladder, etc., he will absolutely scream and flap and tantrum untli I do.
I'm a lousy behavior modifier. I reward bad behaviors. Or... I play the game!

A funny bit about Salty. I think everyone knows he does dozens of tricks. But you may not know that he cheats when ever he can. Take one - he has to put 5 little plastic rings on a post, one by one. He gets a treat for each one. But he has to take them off too and give them back to me, for which he only gets 1 treat when he is all done. Salty cheats by taking all 5 rings in his beak in one shot, just so he gets his treat quicker. I didn't teach him that! Parrots understand the concept of cheating all too well.

Redshift used to tell the dog to 'SHUT UP!' when she barked. And if the other cockatiels made a noise, especially at bedtime, he would tell them to 'SHUT UP!'. Please note, I only ever tell the dog this because she can be quite yappy at times. I mean REALLY yappy, like when I'm feeding her. Like a sun conure on 4 legs. OY!

Anyways... I digress.

Vortex is starting to beep like the microwave. She sees me go into the kitchen and beep beep beep. They are cute as dickens.

The fact he found out how to cheat is hilarious. I wonder what even went through his mind when he started doing that LOL I love the name btw! My bird does something like that she will half do a trick and herself a whole treat like you didn't finish that trick I saw that

Pickles often finds really creative ways to entertain himself. He has tough himself how to use our ceiling fan as a merry go round. Before anyone gets alarmed, please note that we have disconnected and removed the wiring from it for him, and insured no places for little toes to get injured, etc. It is now only Eclectus powered. He figured out that the farther out he gets the farther it will spin for him. He hasn't gotten it to go all the way around yet, but we can certainly tell that is what he is going for. He will spend up to an hour some evenings running back over to the other side to get it moving again. It's pretty amusing to see.

This is about The Twins (birds on the left).

Merlin loves his swinging perch.
He’s the one sitting on it, Luna never sits on it.
Merlin loves to just sir and chill, sometimes he rocks back and forth.

Luna doesn’t sit on it but she loves to chew on it.
Especially when Merlin is trying to relax and sit on it.
If you zoom in you can see some of the destruction.
When Luna chews on the perch it jiggles Merlin around and he gets tired of trying to balance on a very irregular moving perch.
So Merlin lunges and jabs Luna on the top of her head.
Luna screams like it’s such a surprise .

Rinse and repeat.

Bella.

With Bella it’s mostly verbal.
Stuff she says in context or sometimes out of the blue.

The funniest recently…
Well Bella is not a potty mouth despite hearing me use such language now and again.
But she can come out with it when needed.

She uses the phrase “red butt shower” for multiple reasons.
But one of the most frequent meanings is
“I want to come out of my cage”
In certain situations I can’t let her out but she keeps asking with greater… desperation.
Adding kisses and other cute phrases trying to sweet talk her way out.
I have to keep telling her no.

When she realizes it’s just not going to work she comes out with.
“red butt sh!t”

2 of my parrots laugh. If they hear laughing on the TV they laugh too. My Ekkie back in September started laughing with people on the TV while I had people over crying because a family member just died. I couldn’t move fast enough to remove him from the area. I felt horrible. Of course people don’t understand he’s not actually laughing at someone dying. Hard to explain to people with no experience with parrots. Nico just looked beyond mean.

My other parrot yells crackers whenever he sees food (when I’m eating) I’ve only had him over a week now. I started giving him pine nuts when he does this. I have no clue where it’s coming from.
