Hello - Not sure if this is the right place for this topic but hoping someone might be able to shed some light on my parrots leg band. I have a pinnaple conure. He came to live with me on the 19th December - I was told he was 12 weeks old.

I'm struggling to read the leg band and the breeder doesnt seem to want to communicate. I'm in the uk, england.

The band is copper/orange in colour.

The band is closed/metal

It reads:

5,5 (this is the only bit that is sideways)

9
20
CZ
660

Can anyone help? I cant imagine the breeder has used any form of logical banding to be honest. He didnt come from the best of breeders.

Thank you

In North America there has been no controls regarding leg band for decades. Europe may be different as I 'believe' that there is some mid to small bird trade between Countries. As a result, the band may have limited meaning as part of that trade and clearly specific to that breeders control of their hatchlings.

It is possible that your Avian Medical Professional may understand the 'coding' used locally?
