I'm lucky enough to have a custom sawmill about a mile away. I take my branches to them and they run them through the kiln when they fire it up.

a sawmill! how wounderful! wish we had one around here...im sure i could get some good cheap wood from there discards lol not that i really need any wood right now as i have a whole shed full of wood do most of my yarn and cloth crafts in the winter as it can be a bit chilly in the woodshop even with the heater on i keep the heater away from the saws sawdust can catch unfire real fast if your not careful

Bark on or bark off i would bake them to kill off anything that might be on them from the wild birds.

good idea i'll wrap them in foil and bake them for about an hour....as soon as i have the bark off....humm might bake a large peace of bark while im at it and put it in the cage someplace maybe hanging from one the sides...see if she likes it
