Kylo updates

My deepest condolences for your loss of Kylo. I am so sorry and share your grief as bystander fervently hoping for recovery. You and the vet did everything possible only to be hamstrung by avian fragility and limits of avian medicine.

In time you will feel a bit of Kylo's spirit when cuddling Nemo.

We laid to rest our little girl today. She is being aqua cremated, and we dropped her off this morning. We have some of her feathers which we will put with her urn when we get her back.

I will make one more post in this thread when we get her back to show you all her memorial, which has her feet imprints and beak imprint in it.

We carry on with loving her sister and our other conures and birds, but will remember her always.

Oh my God,I havent been able to tune in for the last couple of days.

We were supposed to go see her today after the first step of the aqua cremation. We decided this morning that we didn't want to see her that way. I have to always remember her in her little towel, stiff and passed away, and I didn't want to have to see just her bones.

We are waiting for this process to finish, and receive her urn and memorial. I just thought that I would let you all know that she still is in our memory and her loss sits heavy in our hearts.

Thanks for updating, your selfless dedication to Kylo's well being was evident from the first post. You have in my opinion chosen the wisest mental image for remembrance. Thankfully you will always have prolific video and pictures when the time is right.

I was unfamiliar with aqua cremation and will keep it in mind for the future.

Today we brought home our baby girl to rest. She is next to her conure family, so that they can see her and she can see them. We put Nemo on the picture of them as babies.

And this is a close up of the memorial cast they made for us. It her feet and her beak imprinted forever for us to remember her by.

She will always be in our hearts and minds.

What a beautiful memorial and tribute to dear little Kylo, and the best way to make sure she always remains with the family who loved her.

Some years ago I had a special little feather baby cremated, but in the usual way rather than the aqua method. There wasn't much left by the time they'd finished, but he remains at the very centre of our home where we see him every day.

Kylo will always be a treasured member of your family, as well as her extended family here at PF. I join you in the sadness of her loss but I'm so glad you shared her life with all of us. Thank you for giving us the gift of Kylo and her bright, courageous spirit.
