Kevin in Greytown 2.0

Wait, the supply voltage is standard 230 /240 volt and the power company provided (for a short period) 400 volt. Or, someone in your building was messing with the supply lines and you got a blast of 400 volts. Either way, WOW!

So Very Happy that everyone is Okay and RK was safely outside in fresh air! Big Amazon Hugs Dear Lady.

FYI: We live in an area in which lighting strikes are a bit too common and I installed a full power panel surge protection device that takes the hit of the power surge and saves the ever increasing number of electrical devises in our homes these days. Had to replace it once in the last five years.

The power here is 240 standard and power now coming in at 400. We switched power off our house and now power company turned everyone off. Thankfully! So dangerous! Am working off battery now, there’s never a dull moment!

Oh how scary! I’m so glad you’re all safe!

Folks serious problem here. We had an electrical fire here at home. Power from power company coming in at 400 (supposed to be 240 here). Filled the house with smoke. BUT the verandah where Kevin is was all closed off, not a bit of smoke. I’m so relieved. This all happened as we were going to take a rest. Powers off indefinitely. But we are all safe and well.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank GOODNESS (and/or RK's secret security police) that you're all okay!

RK update...

Hot off the presses! RK toured the house today looking for his loyal subjects and danced with them when he realized they hadn’t left. Chop was coming!

It’s all about food and play, that’s how they open. This week Kevin has opened up in new and fun ways and perched voluntarily to be set on his penthouse. I’m so happy. He actually looks for us now!

CC security cameras discovered the problem with the water pipes at the condo in Greytown. The elusive Keith, Nigel’s nemesis, has re-emerged in Greytown 2.0’s first-ever case of sabotage.

And, such an evil Kieth! Well practiced this one is as he headed directly for the income water pressure regulator or the water filter, either having serious ramifications for those in the condos. Maintenance likely spent hours, possibly days looking for the source of the water problem!

This has the makings of a fabulous graphic novel!

Red Kevin has effectively become the Destroyer of All Things Destroyable. A new musical is being penned at the theater based on RK’s trail of destruction:

The Greytown Chainsaw Massacre

After a full morning of destruction RK had to break to eat and sleep. Next up he has his eyes on a living room chair... more zzzz required for that job.

Merlin wasn’t the sharpest tack in the box. When RK said to light a fire under Merlin, security took it literally. Luckily a kindhearted vulture hen was coming off duty from RBs club and spared the unsuspecting Merlin.

She now has a servant for life.

And, people believe that the really great talent that Parrots have is speaking. Than reality sets in as they find themselves chasing phantom mobile phone rings and the family dog going nuts barking at a phantom can opener! :D

Or, a Mac Meal not from Mickey D's. :D

Our dear friend Jim has hinted to me that maybe I should give updates on the first Greytown Mayor, Nigel.

Nigel's doing well in Malawi now, he has (actually I'm 99% sure Nigel is Nigella but anyway no way to test in these parts) adjusted to his new home well. Our friend (Wilson) and his family have taken Nigel's care on full-force. They are great family friends and took it personally when we lost Nigel last year in our move; Wilson did everything he could to get Nigel back. It took a month or so but he succeeded. In this part of the world things aren't at all straightforward. Anyway, Nigel now is content with his family and is loud, messy, and full of chatter which shows that he's doing well.

Wilson came to visit us last week for a conference we were hosting. It is a 4 day bus ride from Malawi to Burundi. I secretly hoped he would find a way to bring Nigel but I knew he would not come. In reality, it isn't worth the risk - even with all the proper paperwork as we had it last year. There are too many unanswered questions when passing through borders and too many unknown risks. I won't ever attempt anything like that again.

Knowing Nigel is well and happy is the best thing tho... but, we miss him. Losing him as we did last year trying to transport him with us here was possibly the worst things we have ever experienced as a family with a pet. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Kevin, now the Mayor of Greytown 2.0, shows how different 2 birds can be. Although he was mistreated for however long we don't know, his personality is beginning to show. He's extremely mischievous...extremely. And when he knows he's in trouble he runs off like a little vulture back to his cage and I'm sure he's smiling! He's also the messiest bird on record! But I love him! Our family has this bird-sized place that needs filling. We love their enigmatic nature and intelligence, it's especially rewarding when they begin to come out of their shell (ha pun intended) and just get happy. My husband and daughter both love interacting with him - my daughter is 11 and was so hurt when we lost Nigel, that was as bad as losing Nigel, seeing her so sad. She's very passionate about making sure Kevin and other greys are "OK so no one else hurts them." I wonder if she might do something special for them in her lifetime.

Enough ranting for now. Greytown 2.0 has lots of daily madness to attend to this morning.
