Keiko's Vet Visit

so i took Keiko to the new vet i was telling you about...love him...he talked to her and got her to calm down ( he told her everything he was gonna do before he did it and even put the dremel up to his mouth to show her that i wouldn't hurt her) and was able to trim her beak and nails with hardly any fuss...when he was done she just laid calmly on her back for a minute or so...He even said she was a very well behaved macaw too...she seemed to like him better than the other vet also...very happy with him...
He said that her feathers are growing in very nice from where she started to pluck before I got her... and he had no concerns about her either...well worth the money

By the way, I never did ask you....Did your B&G came from craigslist??? I saw someone posted a female B&G awhile back....

No I got her from a guy who manages a pet supply store in hermitage...they were downsizing from a very large flock to something more manageable...they gave her to me with her cage...they are very nice and even agreed to take her back if it didn't work out...i looked at the one on craigslist if its the same one they were in Alabama...the elderly father couldn't keep her due to health issues...i was going to go look at her when I found out about Keiko formerly named teetoo

It's always nice when you have more than one avian vet to choose from. I unfortunately only have one available to me unless I want to travel over 200 miles one way to the next closest. And I have already had a bad experience with the one in my area involving Angel. She took over the practice of the vet I went to for my exotics for the last 30 yrs.

Your new vet sounds like he is a super great one. I like it when they spend time with their patients as if they were children rather than merely 'just another animal'.

Oh that one! The manager at my vet clinic been trying to convince the owner to give me his macaw he had since he was a baby. He's in the back of the clinic at value vet. He only goes to very few people but he came to me and they were shocked.
