but any bird/s pictured
must be your own.

and the winning entry will be displayed
on the Home Page
for the following month.

Entries are open now
and will close early morning
on January 29 - times will vary

Awwwwwwwww, how sweet!! Looks like a regular smooch-a-thon going on at your place, my friend! Lovejoy tries to stick his tongue up my nose too but his is a lot smaller and not nearly as drool-y!!

As per conditions of entry, various types of software, image or meme generators are permitted in order to caption or enhance an entry, as per the photo of Lilly that I added a caption and a sombrero to.

Hmm. I didn't know that was allowed but I never read any rules. I get the captioning and the Sombrero on Lilly but that's not an official entry is it?
I guess I feel that the difficulty getting a bird to do something or look a certain way is part of the challenge and the charm of these photos. Birds aren't super cooperative, and that's why when they are it's a great photo op. I would like to know if an entry is materially altered before I vote. I can't tell unless it's obvious.

The pic of Lilly that I used is an example of what I've determined is permissible in my contest, and members are free to vote for whomever they choose based on their own assessment of what appeals most to them whether an entry has been enhanced or not, or whether indeed that's even an issue for them. But lets please not get too bogged down in this debate, the contest is supposed to be fun!

@JjEjFjF and @DonnaBudgie, I appreciate the way you feel and the reasoning behind your opinions, but captions, photoshop and other various enhancements have been a part of POTM contests for a very long time, and members are free to decide whether this is something they like or not when it comes time to cast their votes.
