2 weeks ago I went away for a 1 week trip, peppy (my 3 month old tiel) was able to come home when I got back, BUT one of his cagemates got sick or something so the store I got him from took them to the birdie hospital. Peppy is acting fine but you know what they say, birds are great actors. When I got back I was informed he wouldn't be ready until next Monday. Today we got to go visit him. The second he saw me he started chirping and frantically pacing back and forth to come out and see me (it broke my heart because I couldn't take him out) so I put my finger up to the glass of his incubator thing (I don't know what it was) and he put his beak up to where my finger was and gave me his "I missed you" look. He looked so heartbroken :( . Monday my little buddy.

I'm sorry to hear this about your baby. That sounds like a responsible store to take the sick bird (AND your bird who is exposed) to the vet, and told you he can't go home yet. I imagine because he's having treatment or at least observation. I sure wish more stores were like that.

I hope they tell you what the findings were. What the illness is, so that you can follow up with tests at your new bird bet exam to make sure he's all better.

All the tests have come back negative. He is there for tonight just to finish the antibiotics they put him on just in case. We take him home for sure tomorrow :)

How horrible to come home and find out your bird couldn't come home. But I agree that the store did the responsible thing to make sure he was checked and got care just in case. He will be home before you know it. Hang in there!
