I'm having shredded wheat for breakfast...yuummmm.

then I thought, 'gee, I bet the birds might like this'

it doesn't contain any sodium or sugar, so I am wondering if it's safe to feed(I'm sure it is....just thought I'd check first) and does anyone else feed it to their birds?
thx.

I wouldn't make it a dietary staple, but it should be fine as a treat. Kiwi loves when he gets a piece of cereal. I would crush it up and only give a little bit to each bird given the size range of your flock :)

All of mine like it as an occasional treat. Another dollar store thing. This is a occasionally give them each one or two sort of thing. My CAG and my macaws love the stuff. The amazons not as much.

Ivory loves tearing it up but eats very little of it.

Cheerios are another big hit....

I feed it to my guys as a treat as well. The finches will eat a little, but the canaries and Bourkes really love it. Ekko & Talli really love it, but I have found very little those 2 won't eat!

There's a lot of GMO junk out there like 500 bread companies use the rubber matt chemical in their bread that's the stuff rats don't want to eat so it can't be any for the birds

Louise will put anything in her beak that she sees me eating. She likes Shredded Wheat but doesn't really eat it. She well....shreds it. She drinks from a cup, too, and I suspect she ate many meals with a previous owner. I try to vary my birds' diet so a little of cereal as a special treat won't hurt them.

that is good to know....I was going to give it to them as a treat, as it is 100% whole wheat with no added chemicals.
