hi i've been trying to find a Eclectus breeder in my state but they are very hard to find. i live in Australia in Vic. and i saw this breeder that looks very good but realised they have to fright the baby's. so i was wondering is it safe for a baby Eclectus parrot to be frighted to me? i am worried about it because if something goes wrong the breeder says that once it leaves them it becomes my responsibility and that kinda makes me worried for the bird as i have no control in knowing that it will be safe on the plane or not. Has anyone had any experience with this at all? or what would be the best thing to do?

Thankyou so much :)

Shipping is safe when the shipper and the shipping company both do a good job. In the USA it is considered pretty safe, but I am not sure about Australia. If I am not mistaken, you folks have a lot of regulations about selling birds across state lines; please be sure you know and are following all regulations. Also, not only is buying an unweaned baby (ESPECIALLY AN ECKIE!!) very unadvisable, I believe it is illegal in Australia. So please be sure that they intend to ship you a FULLY WEANED bird. Do your own research on how long that usually takes. I believe 4 months is still pretty young for an eclectus to be fully weaned, so keep that in mind when discussing with the seller how old your baby is. Numbers less than that are a red flag. Pay attention to red flags, and don't be afraid to find a different seller.

hi and welcome to the forum. I noticed that you live in the same state as me so that's kind of cool. Also since we are coming into spring you could wait a little bit longer as new chicks will hatch giving you a bigger choice and possibly some birds in vic. I recommend that you have a search on gumtree for some ekies in Victoria as there are numerous birds. As for the freight issue it should be fine for you to freight the bird as the bird won't be in transit for really long periods of time. good luck finding your new bird. :D:41:
