Is fish food bad??

I was just wandering. Is fish food bad for dogs?? Twice now my family and I have gone out and we have come back and our giant tub of fish was gone and partly on my dogs face. So we bought another one thinking he was just hungry when we went out. We left and came back and the exact same thing happened except his time he ate the bottle two. So now we put it under our sink where he can't get to it. But my point/question is. Is fish food bad for dogs??

Fish food is intended to be fed to fish, not dogs. However if you have a fish with no bones I am sure a dog would enjoy it. If I were you I would put things that are not intended for the dog where they cannot be reached if you can.

We have but at the time we had never had problems with him so we trusted him. We learned better.

Fish food is not bad at all for dogs. The bottle may not be good though.

What kind of (dog) food does he get?

I don't know the exact name but the dog food is supposed to help his skin from burns and stuff he is short haired. Weimaraner. He has not seemed like he is sick so I guess it can't be too bad. Thanks for the help.

The reason I ask is that fish food is very high in protein and is nutrient dense.

Many dog foods that are advertized as really healthy actually are not. It could be that he just likes the fish food, it's good stuff - but it could also be that he's seeking something missing in his normal diet.

The simple test is to look at the ingredient list on his normal food. If the first ingredient listed (on the ingredients, not on the label on the front) is not a protein source (chicken, beef, etc - not chicken by-products) then you might want to consider other foods.

If it is a good food, then you just have an exploratory pup.

We looked up the best food for him for weeks before we got him. And we had one before him so we already knew. I will check though. Thankyou for helping me.
