Congratulations!! I adore her and am so happy you brought her home <3 please share lots and lots of photos!!
Thank you, and I will! But she's having a snooze right now, having had a BIG morning making goo-goo eyes at Lovejoy so I'll get some pics a little later :)

But unlike hair extensions, the feathers 'support' flight!
Most definitely! But hair and feathers are made of similar substances and are both produced by follicles deep in the skin. It's a similar technique. I had never heard of Imping, but I had heard of hair extensions using superglue type adhesives. I always thought hair extensions were kinda silly, but Imping is anything but silly. If I had to describe Imping to someone who never heard of it I'd use that analogy.

That likely helps to understand how birds have hair under their chest body feathers. However, their application is very important to flight as they sense the compression of the body feathers above them during flight (i.e. the compression of air under (between) the wings). That confirms whether the bird is creating sufficient lift.

It is hard work to google eye a Rooster like Lovejoy as HRH expects perfection! Taking a nap should be expected, plus likely still a bit tired from the Vet visit and the excitement of a New Home, plus a flock!!

You're right about that, Uncle Boats, Peach's first few days here certainly were a whirl of activity and new experiences, and it's safe to assume she never counted on falling madly in love with a certain handsome red-headed rooster! Sadly however the inability to get a timely psittacosis test result means that she has to visit the vet for the next five weeks to complete that course of injections, and that will probably see her "out of sorts" for a few days each week until it's finished. Buuuuuuuuuuuut the good news is that her new palace arrived and has been assembled, and everyone seems to like it…

Our Peachie little Princess went for her second jab for psittacosis today, and what a little trooper she is! Not sure if she's going to be so sporting about it in another week or so, since she has another four shots to go, but for today she could not have been a better little patient :) She was weighed at the vet clinic, she started out at 96 grams last Monday, which is a little underweight for her species, but today she's already up to 106!! Which does not surprise me one bit cos she has a VERY health appetite and thankfully she LOVES her veg!

I've had to make some modifications to her cage, it came with a kind of playtop arrangement which consisted of an arch at each end with a perch and some food dishes connecting them across the top, but I had to do away with all of that since Peach found a few metal edges that didn't sit flush and decided to chew on them. It's a stainless steel cage but that doesn't mean I want her eating it!

And for birb tax, some fun stuff from today, the ongoing love story of Princess Peach and Lovejoy, with Val providing a romantic soundtrack in the background 💖

They're so sweet together!!! ♥️ Is Val a tad jealous of the little Princess over his bestie Lovejoy? Peachie is looking sooooo good! Her wing looks absolutely perfect. You'd never know if it wasn't for the blue feathers there. She's one happy girl now :)

She's been SUCH a good girlie with that wing, but I'm not saying anything else about that cos I don't wanna jinx it! I thought she must've put on some weight since last week but I certainly wasn't expecting another 10 grams, I'm so very proud of her 🥰 Val and Lovejoy will always be besties though, they still play and preen together for hours every day. Ain't no hen ever gonna come between those two, no matter how pretty she may be!

Awww Peach and Lovejoy look so happy. I'm glad to see Val isn't left out too!

Ona enjoyed watching your video (with a beak covered in chop):

I'm glad Ona enjoyed the vid! She was probably entranced by Val's singing, he's such a happy little dude and he just sings his little heart out all day long! Seems she's fixated on the bit where Peach steamrollered Lovejoy with that ball too - only fair given the way he steamrollered his way into Peach's heart right from day one 💖

Peach seems to have pulled up pretty well this morning, and has been eating eating eating since I uncovered her just after 0530 this morning. Guess we'll see how she goes with flying, since that injection goes right into her pectoral muscle so she may be a little sore. Needless to say I'll be making sure she takes it easy today!

I pre-saw the rolling of the ball in my mind and I was waiting for it and it was a joy to watch each roll the other over with it! The commonly 'at volume' discussion, afterwords never happened as they just kept playing!

So "Needle-ss" to say, the Vet visit when well. Maybe, a bit of pain! But: Hey, maybe a good idea to introduce a general ride, or two, in which one does not go the the Vet's office. By week, four, she will like not be as interested in the travel cage if it only goes to the Vets. Just my two cents!

A Joy to watch from afar, has to be amazing being upfront!

Great idea about the little road trip! Hubby and I will be popping down to the local park for some flowers for Lovejoy on the weekend and Peach might just like to come along for the ride - thank you, Uncle Boats! 💖

Today marked the halfway point with Peach's doxycycline injections, and she was SUCH a good girlie for the vet nurse again. She's put on another 2 grams, making it 108 grams now, and I think she ate most of that this afternoon, she certainly does LOVE her food!!

Some cute pics from today, basking in the winter sun…

… Fang and Jem thought this was a good idea too :)
