My parrot has inflammation in his digestive system that we discovered at the end of 2023, and it is not going away. It appears that it is now a permanent situation. This is also causing him to train when he poops, so he has constant prolapses. The test for avian borna virus came back negative. Does anyone know of any parrots having the same exact issue? I am not even sure what to call this....something autoimmune ...

What kind of parrot?

My Red Lored Amazon had a prolapse and the prognosis was not good.

But I wish I had gotten seven second oppinions on her before we made our decission on what to do.

Wishing you a much better outcome.

Not exactly no.
Similar yes.

How was the inflammation determined?.
Did you get an x ray?

My Yellow nape Bingo , his abdomen is enlarged was seen in x ray, exact reason unknown.
I have seen him straining to go poo but it’s infrequent, maybe once a week I catch him at it.

I have given him that anti inflammatory pain medicine with no change in his symptoms.
