My Indian ringnecks just laid three eggs. This is their first clutch. The male is a double factor violet and the female is a turquoise harlequin. I can’t wait to see what colors the babies will be. Any ideas? I’m going to candle the eggs next week. 😁

All of them will be single factor violet but I don't know the genetics of harlequin, so I'm not sure how it works exactly.

I just read that the pied (harlequin) mutation IRNs isn't well understood. Possibly recessive, possibly partially dominant. There may be two types of pied as there are with budgies- dominant pied and recessive pied. Does your pied female have dark "baby eyes" or normal eyes? Does she have a red lower beak or is it dark? Both of these characteristics indicate that she's recessive pied. If they all hatch and mature you'll know more.

If it's recessive and the male isn't carrying the pied gene the babies will not look pied. If the male carries the pied gene half the babies will appear pied and half normal

If it's partially dominant, the babies could be pied.
