Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
Recovering from surgery, someone sent me a video from a breeder who had posted a big female Bolivian greenwing for sale. Big Bird. About to finish handfeeding. Goes to anyone. Loves everyone. Total Lap Bird.

I can't replace Maggie. But this bird is very much like Maggie as a baby...

I talked to the breeder twice last night and pulled the trigger. It's going to be another two weeks before I am well enough to travel to go get him. In the meantime, since the breeder wants the bird to go to his new home, Stephen has agreed to take her for me... I'll be picking her up on the 17th.

I really, really miss that greenwing personality.

Wow mark..that's awsome!!! Nothing will EVER replace Maggie...in any of our hearts. And Stephen is a wonderful friend. I'm happy for you. Sending you a big hug!!:60::07:

Awesome I really wish that I could make a decision like that but I'm like a kid in a candy shop when it comes to different species.

Firstly wishing you a good and speedy recovery.

Great news re your new addition, can't wait to hear more (in time).

Everyone realises that there is no replacement for Maggie, sincerely hoping she is being treated well and does still make it to the home where she belongs.

Hope recovery is going well, Mark.

And I doubt anybody thinks you're replacing Maggie.

Congrats on the new flockmate!

Oh awesome news. I so understand, I missed my CAG so badly, no one will ever replace him but I knew I needed another CAG. Nigel has filled another spot, earned his own place. Happy for you!

Mark, remember before surgery the warning about not getting involved in any life changing stuff, you know, like buying a house, adding a MAC to the family, etc... :D

Happy to hear you're recovering well from surgery and adding more feathers to your life!

Happy healing good friend!

Awesome Mark. I am so glad to hear this. Of course, it will be a completely different experience, but one I'm sure you will love every minute of.

Mark, I am so happy that you are opening up your heart and home to this lucky baby. I think it is a tribute to Maggie that you are bringing another into your life:)
Wishing you a quick recovery time.

Congrats! Nobody will ever replace Maggie, but another bird can still find a place in your heart.

Congratulations. And wishes for a speedy recovery. You have a lot to look forward to. :)

Awwww.... It'll give you something to look forward to I think. Not a bad idea in my mind!

Congratulations Mark :). I think this is a good idea. Of course no one thinks you're replacing Maggie, since no two living creatures have the same personality obviously. But we get it. I think this is great news. This happy news to look forward to will probably help with your physical recovery too. Get well soon!

Really happy for you Mark. I wholeheartedly agree with Julie's sentiments, and believe his is a great idea for you.

How are you feeling, btw? Wasn't aware you were undergoing surgery.

So happy for you, Mark! I hope your recovery from surgery is speedy and progresses well. I'm excited that you'll be able to get the much needed big GW love back in your life, we all know how much you deserve that.

Wishing you a speedy recovery and hoping to see how your lovely story progresses with this beautiful new addition.

Good for you Mark! :D I am so glad you are doing this. Each bird is a different individual who will create their own memories with you.

I know you will never give up on Maggie, but there is nothing wrong with adding a new flock member. I still have hope for Maggie's return but I am also so very excited for you!

Recover well so you will be ready for your new baby! Can't wait to meet him! :D

I haven't been here in a while but was happy to log on today and see where you're able to share your life with a new greenwing. Your baby is a male? Looking forward to hearing more about him in the future.

I wish you a speedy recovery mark. I know how you feel a little bit about Maggie. My own little Maxi has a spot in my heart that will never be filled but Salty has earned his place there too.

We are looking forward to pics and posts about the new addition.
If there ever was someone that will do right by a baby GW, it's you

Mark, wishing you a speedy recovery, I'm happy to hear the surgery is over.

Congratulations! I'm thrilled for you and the lucky baby greenwing that will be joining you and your flock.

Wishing you the best of health from across the pond. We all need some comfort and you'll be giving that new little guy a great home.
