Im New Here!

No, Shelby wasn't too tame, but he would step up.

They're not too hard to get here, and fairly inexpensive, but they're not very sought after as pets for some reason. The related Indian Ringneck is much more popular.

Since Mango has a fully colored head already, I'd say he's older than a year. If I recall my info correctly, they typically don't get the full color for a couple years if not longer depending on the individual
.

I was told he was a year and a half old nearly two years. He is very calm and I think he will be fully tame very soon.I cant wait until he learns to step up.

I’m afraid the pet shop mislead you about your Plummie’s age. Julie is 100% correct. The males don’t obtain their full color for quite some time.

What age? I got him from a breeder the place is called the bird jungle.

They are hard to find here I wasn't even looking for one but was looking to get another bird.Theres a bird shop called the Bird jungle all very healthy birds and fed great.Well I saw Mango with cockatiels and after I went home I wanted him and ended up getting him for my Birthday.Mango is 1 year old I just got him November 8th ...

 Well pardon me, you're the one who said 'bird shop', and claimed he was 1 (or a little over 1). Julie then let you know your bird must be older due to his coloration. I was merely pointing out that Julie is correct, your bird IS definitely older than that since he's acquired his adult plumage. :)

Mango, what you've been told by Wendy and Julie about your bird's coloration and age is true. Like I said in a previous post, a very close friend has a male plummie and I watched him transition from a newly weaned chick to a mature male with the adult coloration to go along with it. It took almost three years before he was fully colored up. In fact, we were still wondering if he was a male or female when he was a year old because he still hadn't changed enough to be sure. You might want to check with your bird store you purchased him from to obtain his actual hatch date. Isn't he banded?

Sorry what I was asking is what age do they usually get their coloration and yes it technically is a bird shop but they are breed them in there themselves in large aviaries.

No he isn't banded they dont band their birds.I dont think they would know the exact date as they were a little unsure of his age.

Still sounds a bit young to have already obtained FULL plumage back when you bought him a couple months ago. I know one article said "full adult plumage at 30 months" but that is a generalization just like saying at what age humans lose their baby teeth and grow permanent ones.

As you said before, the store owner really doesn't know, and I believe they are giving their best "guess" in order to give you an answer. You said they bred him there? Doesn't sound like they're very organized if they don't have a record of it. At any rate, I believe Mango is a young bird, and it doesn't really matter exactly how old he is. Nothing to argue about, he's a pretty fellow. :)
