Today I brought home my baby Maalik (ma-leek). He's 11 weeks old and is as adorable as they come. I absolutely love listening to his little baby honking noises. So very endearing!

Maalik came right out of his travel carrier as soon as I got home, and stepped up for each and every one of us. He climbed up our arms and cuddled into our necks. Quite the little cuddle bug!

I'm already noticing something about CAGS that I haven't seen in my other birds. He really hones into his surroundings, intently watching and actively listening. Very much the little sponge, soaking everything up for processing and compartmentalizing. I wish I could see inside his little brain to know what's going on in there!

He's getting used to his cage, and is a bit uncoordinated for now. Tonight he fell asleep in his food bowl, even though he had a bunch of perches upon which he could have gone. Go figure! I'm considering getting one of those corner perches in addition to all the other ones he has.

I'll upload some new images very soon!

Welcome home, my little guy! :smile015:

Waiting to see little Maalik!!! I bet he's adorable sleeping in his food bowl.... :)

Totally forgot you were getting one! Can't wait to see him. How was the breeder experience?

awwww, congratulations!!, there is nothing like bringing home a new member, especially a baby! :)....can't wait to see pics!!!

Thanks! Breeder experience was phenomenal. He allowed me to come by any time to see him until I brought him home. He really knows his stuff, and has beautiful birds! His Macaws are to die for, too.

I'm going to pick up a corner shelf today. I feel sorry for him sleeping in his food bowl all night. Not sure what that was all about, but evidently he felt very safe in there.

My computer is not doing a very good job with uploading my phone images. As soon as I figure out its problem, I'll get some images uploaded for everyone to see!

He's SO friendly, and not apprehensive of anything he's encountered so far. Today I'll have to figure out how to curtain off my dining room so that he and my other fids can safely fly out of harms way.

CAGS study everything and everybody. They really do.

They are a bit more skittish than a lot of birds as well... They don't sit around and think about the fight or flight thing. It's instant "flight" when spooked.

Comparing my CAG to my zons and big macs, it's kind of like comparing slapstick comedy to intellectual humor. Both are fun...

Oh, Birdman666, that's a good one! My zone certainly falls into the category of slapstick comedy.

My project today is to hang a curtain rod across the opening between our dining room (our aviary!) and our living room so that I can contain my flight-evolving fids. Gizmo's flight feathers are now grown out, so she's the first one to figure out the flight thing. And yesterday Harley was actually able to fly from his cage to Niko's. Very surprising, considering how badly cropped his flight feathers were before he came to us.

My second project is to figure out what to put on top of each cage to help prevent any toes from being chopped off while they're cage
top visiting.

My Big Macs are the real clowns of my flock... though my zons certainly give them a run for their money.

My CAG, however, is the bird that messes with everyone, and plays practical jokes...

Yay! So cool!!

I love my CAG Kenji, he's really hands off which I'm slowy trying to change. My aquaintance's rescued African gray LOVES tormenting his dogs. She whistles for his timber wolf and dog to come over, when they run over she imitates the car alarm as loudly as possible, sending them running. It's kinda funny, his very large timber wolf is completely dominated by a little bird who's less than a pound XD
