It sounds like your healthy bird may be carring a disease that is fatal to birds, this has happened in human populations look up Typhoid Mary. It seems like you should not introduce new birds to him and just be his friend yourself.

Wow, interesting story! I gave the little guy to my step mother in law! Should I tell her she can't take him afterall? I'm having a new Conure coming in and I don't want him to get infected. I'm going to have to read a bit more on this... Very puzzling, I don't want anymore little birdies passing because of this. He REALLY does not enjoy human contact and it makes me sad that he has to live alone.

OH wow, I just looked further into it and that could really have been it. I just emailed a local Avian Vet. to see what he thinks and I hope I can get an appointment soon. I really don't want to make my new birdie sick with this little guy around. He spends most of his day outside anyway... Would spraying Lysol on the walls and carpet help "disinfect" the area?
