Good news then, what a relief.
After what I wrote yesterday Casper managed to hurt his leg today - on the catch that keeps the top of the cage shut. The top was open and he was climbing about up there and he tripped over the loose catch. He had obviously hurt himself because he was having trouble balancing on one leg and a beak so I rescued him and passed him over to Margaret while I phoned the vets for an appointment. By the time we were ready to leave he was climbing around the travel cage, hanging upside down from the top with his injury obviously forgotten about so we cancelled the appointment.
I have removed the catch and will think about an alternative. I don't think he will try and push his way out and get stuck halfway but you never know.
I"m glad casper is ok........so many accidents can happen....i wish all my birds were like my severe... my severe likes a bucket at bottom of his cage filled with wood slats and goes down and shreds them when he wants to
UPDATE....the foot itself appears less swollen however the leg remains pretty swollen...she's eating with the foot off and on...she is losing almsot all of her tail feathers and they come out with blood on the tips when they come out so still watching that......hoping for the leg to less in swelling..
Thanks so much for the update. Oh my goodness, a week later and the leg is still swollen AND the tail feathers are still coming out. :11: Sounds like the injury was worse than first anticipated, no?
Have you heard back from the lady who made that toy?
The bird club president contacted me not the lady herself.....was thinking that she would have recovered fully by now but leg is swollen and foot itself appears slightly less swelling....still very concerned
