Oh Big Bird, don't take the bird back! It is a bird of the yellow crown family. All of the amazons from this family whether yellow front or double yellow head or yellow nape have equal talking potential. Your bird is cute and healthy, looks very friendly. It does not matter if he is a double yellow head or not....it most likely is because I think that they start out with a smaller yellow patch that grows larger as they age. Dosen't matter!! I have a yellow nape myself that is a really good talker. If you have a good relationship with the bird then that is the key as the personality of the individual amazon is the most important thing here, not which exact race in the yellow crowned family it is. Where I live in Houston all of this group of birds go for the same price. My yellow nape amazon only said hello for the first year and did not start talking anything more until after the first year. Now she is 18 years old and talks very clearly with a large vocabulary. Have fun with your new bird!! Lesley
