I think my bird has broken his leg. Please help.

Maybe like the meds comes in syringes already filled?? That's weird (usually comes in bottles and you fill the syringes yourself). You will want to give him the exact amount they told you to give. It's usually so little meds for little birds because those medicines are normally meant for dogs/cats.

When we got our meds the vet gave us preloaded syringes. Maybe stick to what it says to give and call them in the morning to clarify.

Yes you can feed both meds at once. A bit of the bread will be fine, just a tiny piece so you are sure that he eats all the meds. I directly put meds through the side of the beak for my birds without any problem. I'm confused as to how much you need to feed? How much does your bird weighs for reference?

I thought the same thing, why not give your bird the medication together?
my avian vet did not recommend combining the meds together. You should administer them separately, as it can change the consistency, & strength.

glad your baby is better!!!:D

I gave him all 0.05 of the pain meds, hope that's ok.
My sister said he was shaking earlier but I think he's doing better now. He's using both feet very nicely.

I have a Green Cheek Conure who needs meds right now, her pain med is Metacam and she needs 0.02 ml (metacam 1.5mg/ml) twice/day. She weighs 64gr.
If they said to give 0.03ml, I would not give 0.05ml.

I definately agree with Echo. In such a small body the doses are critical to manage properly. The bigger the body, the more margin for error. If the vet said 0.03ml, do your very best to hit that dose exactly.

Bubbles in the syringe will help tell you there is fluid in there. Also, while filling, fill more the you need, place the open end up and tap the syringe to get excess air out. If its a needle tipped syringe inject the excess back into the container. If not needle topped then push the excess back into the container until you reach the exact does to be given.
