I am rescreening my front porch this spring(yet again, the storms wreak havoc and always end up shredding at least one a year) so if there are too many skeeters we can stay on the porch and still get some sun and fresh air.My greenie loves it out there and I sit and read while she plays.
Usually mosquitos are out at certain times of the day and can be avoided..I dont know how that works with the west nile virus. Why dont chickens get it?
Those carriers are sweet. It would be fun to go for a bike ride with that strapped to the back(as long as you dont crash anyway).
I guess I don't know if chickens can get it. Maybe they do? We can, but are usually fine; I think I've already had it. I believe it's always fatal in birds though, and it can be for horses. Last year was the absolutely wettest year I can remember and they were awful. I used to have around 1000 bats in my old barn and never had mosquitoes. But, the barn was hit by a tornado so I have been batless ever since.
