As some of you know we just got Malachai the Black Lory. We only have two day supply left of his Nectar, I ordered a large bag that got here today but the bag was compromised since it had bunch of puncture holes on it so I had to send it back to get a replacement. They're out and can not send out replacement and it won't get here til next Wednesday or Thursday. I'm calling everyone and e-mailing everyone I know locally to try to locate Lory Nectar. Malachai cries out to me constantly to be fed more and I'm having a major breakdown feeling like I'm letting him down. Out of all the years I've owned parrots, never been at a loss until this one. I just wish there was more information on the net about Lory, but it's at a minimal! I've located a off brand called Quickco Lory Nectar at Petco so I'm gonna buy it anyways until my order gets here at least he have something to eat. I'm about to cry listening to him crying....

awww mike, its only for the short term! and your definately not a bad parent! better safe then sorry, with the food, an once malachai gets it, all willl be forgiven!

are they allowed honey??

Different people say different stuffs about Honey. We found a formula we can make with honey. I just regather myself after sobbing...I had to put Malachai back in his cage cause I couldn't stop sobbing with him on me....We're gonna go get Quickco tomorrow so at least he have something to eat. I was so disappointed when I open the package and it was damaged and I was stuck at work and couldn't do a thing....

grrr thats the worse thing is feelin helpless :( yes i've read various pros an cons with honey

poor malachai won't think any worse of you, he knows your trying X

In a pinch you can use water laced with sugar...

Thanks to Lynne!!!! Jordan verify what we're doing is right and Black Lory are known to act like babies for a long time but he does eat on his own so he's pretty much weaned. My partner said the something but I guess I was under too much stress. I feel much better now! We love Malachai very much and wanted the best for him. :)

Mikey you a bad parent, NEVER.LOL.

I got hold of some Nectar...my friend who sells bird products happens to carry them and is bringing me a bag of it tomorrow to my work. Yea!!!! What a stress relief.... :)

How can you say you are a bad parent? If you truly were, you wouldnt be so upset about the situation you have found yourself in with your baby. Glad Pedro and Jordan (those crazy lory people, love em tho) were able to help. I have read somewhere that there is very little Lory info on the net. They are regulars over here, so any good birdy shop has the required foods in abundance but they are not common over there - All about supply and demand, I suppose.
PS, I got a re-homed blue quaker yesterday and have also named him Malakai (spelt differently tho). Now to get my other dream bird - a rainbow lory. Thanks for the "Thanks" Are you gunna hang round and drain their lory brains? I hope so - it is such a small forum and they are really nice people.

Definitely! We have a lot to learn about Lory and people there are knowledge of them as there's very limited info and knowledge here about Lory & Lorikeets. They seem very nice and made us feel very welcome and quick to answer my questions. I knew the answer but I was not positive as Malachai is the very first Lory I've ever owned. Thanks again!!!!

Read Jordans response after I posted here. You have a little sooky-sooky-la-la. Its good to know they could help. You got "had" by a 3 month old lory. LOL How will you cope if this goes on for months and months and months and --------? Seriously tho, glad it all worked out for you. Go get some sleep and dont let that little cutie get you tied up in knots again, cos by the sounds of it, he is gunna try.
