Victoria, thank you so much for sharing all the pics of the rescue! I had no idea it was so huge. What an amazing thing Jeanne and John are doing, massive respect for them. And it is so clean!!!
I now have a blueprint in my head for when I finally hit the lottery.

I had no idea there were so many! Are amazons particularly difficult to rehab? I have never had one or had any close friends who do, so the most interaction I get with them is at club meetings and obviously vicious birds tend not to get brought out to those...

What kind of doves does the sanctuary have? We dont have a rescue or sanctuary here, so its all done by private individuals. Sometimes our club does rescue, but the foster care still has to be done by individual members

A lot of our amazons are the ones that couldn't be placed in other shelters and got transferred to us. Most have attitude issues and there isn't a lot of time to work with them. We do have a few that can meet adopters but the green bird doesn't appeal to many. The few we've adopted out in the last year are a disabled Amazon, 2 spectacle amazons which are the really small amazons, and my Kelly. We have 5 maybe that can meet people but no one comes in looking for an Amazon. Or if they do the standoffish attitude doesn't exactly appeal to them. We also have a few pairs and some ex breeders. Everyone wants Kelly though....

Hmmm is there different types of doves...I'm not a dove person lol. They are cinnamon and white colored. The one is really friendly will let you hold him and likes his head scratched occasionally. We have offered both doves including their double stacker cage for a hundred dollar adoption fee but no go.

Wait wait I lie we adopted out one more Amazon. The blue front named sweetie monster. She was part of the Amazon gang in the house but she finally liked someone enough to go to a home. She has liked Jeanne and my mother forever but another woman was chosen finally.
