As some of you saw in my other thread, I recently fell in love with a male Eclectus, but unfortunately he was not up for adoption. I have been doing a lot of thinking and researching since then and I have decided not to go with an Eclectus for now. I still would like one someday, but right now getting an ekkie would not be the best decision for me.

With that being said, I have decided to go with a Pionus instead. The more research I do, the more I realize that a Pi would fit in perfectly with my lifestyle :). They are quiet, sweet, easy going, and the perfect size. I have always been drawn to the Bronze winged pionus, but I am now leaning towards the Maximillian pi instead.

I have found a breeder that has babies who will be ready in about 6 weeks. I'm going to think about it a bit more, but I'm really thinking I want to put down a deposit. I've been emailing the breeder and asking lots of questions, and I feel really comfortable with how knowledgeable and professional he seems to be.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this with everyone. I'm sure I'll be asking a few pionus-related questions in the near future. :D

That sounds like a great plan, Congratulations !

My cousin has a Maxmilliam Pionus and he is a real sweetheart. I have an ekkie and I can see how easy it was for you to fall in love:) . They are beautiful birds and not horribly loud. But the pionus is a wonderful lil parrot I have thought about getting a male for myself. Would you please let me know how it turns out . I just adopted out my green cheek conures they were breeder birds so not very lovey and sweet and I really would love to know how it goes with the pi. Wishing you happy journey with your possibly new fid .

Yay! I know you will love your pi if you get one. I am envious that you will get to start with a baby! Enjoy!

I have zero experiences with pionus parrots but I've heard wonderful things. I know a lady that adopted one from a rescue and his name was Happy. He talked quite a bit and was, as his name would imply, a very outgoing and happy bird.
