Okay this might sound weird, but I have to make jokes about it

Only way I know how to cope with it
Ever since my ice skating accident, almost 8 years ago, I have been referred to as Freddie Kruger, I wonder why

So today I am brave enough to share a picture with you all

Freddie is a bit shy now, wait one minute okay

Ag no Ant you are just too much!

.

How on earth you get it right to make me laugh and cry in one post only you will know!
animatedcryingsmiley.gif

But now on a serious note - that picture is of a long time ago right? You are much better now right?

If we're going to compare nicknames....I'm throwing mine into the ring.

I don't have a picture, but...in December 2008, I had a radical left neck dissection. The surgery required an incision from just behind my left ear, down the left side of my neck to the point of my left collar bone, across the front to about 1/3 of the way up the right side of my neck. They also removed a muscle so my neck is asymetrical.

My family calls me "Franken Neck". It was pretty scary at first, but my surgeon did a great job and the scar is pretty faint now - less than 2 years later.

animatedcryingsmiley.gif
again and again

That picture was taken almost 8 years ago, it was a clipping from the newspaper article.
BUT I am worse off with my right hand now, the ulnar nerve was completely severed, had 280 stitches internally to save it, 5 operations later, physiotherapy every week day for a year nothing was successful.
Have already had 28 hand pieces made over the years, to try rectify the clawing but
www_MyEmoticons_com__fishing.gif

My hand automatically goes into a fist, gets stiff and remains in a claw like position. When ever anyone touches my arm/hand, it feels like an electrical shock running through. Since the accident left hand is my "right" hand
Bananeyessss.gif
I had to learn to drive with one hand and start writing with the left. Joke is .... my left hand writing is neater than what my right hand ever was

I have to keep massaging it, especially during the winter months, to keep the circulation going constantly.
It becomes extremely painful, especially when I work on the parrot forum for hours

I took this pictures a few minutes ago, this is how is looks basically all the time

The most amazing thing though, is, I handle Mishka only with my right hand, Mishka has never ever hurt my hand in any way.
Now that is " true love"

Oh wow, I am so sorry! :( How exactly did it happen? I know you said ice skating, but I just can't imagine how! It's so unfair what some people have to go through, but you are definitely taking it in stride!

And I agree, that is true love! Mishka knows, and she wants to take care of her momma! ;)

can you believe it
Earlier on there was a hockey match. When we got on the ice, it was extremely slippery, we were actually still walking not skating yet, when a young guy, bumped my shoulder. I fell down, he skated over the inside of my right forearm eina

"Fraken Neck" shake "Freddie Kruger's" "hand"

Unfortunately I have no surgical or accident excuse, I was just born unattractive.

I'm soo sorry about your hand!! That must be painful. I resemble Aussie Bindi Irwin, especially if I have my hair up in piggy tails. LOL, a little kid came up to me and ask if I was Steve Irwin's daughter.

Oh Antoinette!
I really feel low right now and hearing what you went through and how you have fought to make the best of a devastating injury puts my much more minor trouble in perspective.

Oh man Poor girl. :( I've had accidents as well. I've half chopped my index finger off, i've broken my wrist from falling 15 feet out of a tree, i've broken my collar bone playing backyard football, i've cracked my foot, and i'm pretty sure i've done other things lol.

Been there, done that ( except I kinda broke my arm so now it is crooked):54:

Oh man!!!! I was dumb, I put my whole wait on a dead branch. Then again I was only 8 when it happened......
