Percy- Sun conure
Lily- Cinnamon green cheek conure
Hi, guys! This is my first post ever :) My name is Courtney and I am the owner of a 2 and a half year sun conure (Percy), who I have owned for about 2 years and a month. I just recently got a cinnamon green cheek conure (Lily). She is past her quarantine period, and they have been in the same room (separate cages) for about two weeks.
Although I encouraged the rest of my family to play with him, Percy slowly became a one person bird. Although he still allows my mom to take him out and hold him, he is only ever totally comfortable, cuddly and playful with me.
I have tried to socialize them two or three times. Lily will inch up to him and bob her head like she's inquisitive and is looking to play. But Percy usually ends up lurching at her and going into fight mode, and I have to break up the play date before it even started.
Does anybody have any tips on how to socialize them? Percy is usually pretty territorial over me but I'm really hoping there's some way to get them to get along. There's nothing I want more!!!! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1390406451.514366.jpg

I am owned by a sun and a GCC as well. I had Mango for about 2 years before Kiwi joined us. We were pretty lucky that Mango was very excepting of Kiwi joining her flock. One thing I do make sure to do is give each bird personal time alone with us. It seems to help with jealousy issues. I make target training a game as well, they will race to hit the target first and both get treats.Kiwi is more the aggressor out of the 2 but then they snuggle at night on the same perch.

Thank you for your response! You are so lucky your birds get along. I do give them personal time but on the few occasions I've had them out together Percy just wouldn't have it. And it breaks my heart because Lily is so eager to play with him!!!
How do you initiate target training? I would be interested in trying that (when they're on better terms of course).

There are some really good videos on YouTube on how to target train. Make sure to use small treats or you will be always waiting for them to get done snacking. I use Oat Groats at the moment.
