My yellow crowned was a rescue and we paid $350.00. As for my orange winged, my daughter saw him at a yard sale for $100.00, in a cage too small for budgies. She got him and brought him home to me

The first one cost me 20$, that's what i gave the kid to climb the tree.Ants kicked my butt.The last one i bought,still not in my aviary, cost me 5000$ . waiting on her mate, another 5000$ . And another 10 yrs before i see any babies. Guess it depends on where you are and what your looking for. BTW that bird i paid 20$ for,,,after 43 yrs,, she;s still my best friend.

Our Lilac Crowned was $1200 as a baby at the breeder, but he is priceless forever in our hearts.

my orange winged amazon was free ! but I have racked up enough expense to have been about to have bought 2 by now....lol cant help it! if I see something he may like I get it, then there were vet bills ( had him to the vet the day after I got him for trims & clips) , then a new cage......on and on and on! lol

I adopted my DYHA just 2 weeks ago for $325. I am in touch with her original owner.....
I bought my YSA on CL for $100......
Funny, the girl advertised poor YSA on CL for $900, but wanted me just to take her for free when she could see my interaction with the bird. I insisted on paying something..... I am still in touch with this girl who sold me my YSA.....

Way back in 1969, George the YCA cost $495. Since my aunt wrote the check to pay for him, she got a 10% senior citizen's discount, so the final cost was $450, including a small stainless steel cage (still in use as Ralph the Quaker parrot's transport cage).

Anyway back to the thread. I just brought home Mabel my dyh, she was $1000. That seems to be the going rate for them around here.

Parker was 700 from a breeder in GA. Charlie was 300 with cage from a lady off CL, plus around another 500 to 600 in vet bills after I brought her home.

Yes maam, but they're the split to blue, they carry the gene but not visually.With both parents being split to blue ,50% of the babies should be blue.

In 1981 Oscar the Orange wing cost 125.00. Wild and most likely transported in the door panel of a Volkswagen when brought to USA. Just kidding. 33 years later he was priceless.

You know what? I have never once in my life paid for an amazon.
I have had a total of 11 foster zons... and three permanent residents.
(One of whom died when she was 38.) And I don't think I can count the number I worked with over the years. Easily another dozen or so.
Every single one of these birds came to me as a "biter." Every single one of them turned out to be good birds...
So the answer is, all of my amazons were "free."
Unless you count Sally's $450 dollar vet bill. Pecker's $1,100 vet bill... the cost of about 8 macaw sized cages, plus the cost of food, toys, and bird treats, plus the time and effort and energy that went into turning around a poorly trained aggressive bird...
Hot 3 amazons were some of the most often dumped birds at the rescue...
