How loud is your Macaw?

I've had three macaws over the years, and they ranged between 2 and 3. When loud, they are really jet-engine loud!!

That's the thing. My LOUDEST birds are my big macs. BUT my quietest birds are also my big macs. They are NOT generally screamers. But when they do vocalize?! My entire neighborhood is aware of it.

THE ZONS ARE CONSISTENTLY LOUDER BIRDS. They vocalize more.

IF MY GREENWING DOES THE FULL VOLUME SCREAM, SHE CAN DROWNED OUT THE ENTIRE REST OF THE FLOCK, EVEN IF THEY WERE SCREAMING AT FULL VOLUME.

Does that make sense?!

chas varires from a 2 to a 3 depending on the day. She's a chatterbox and god FORBID you go into the kitchen without her!

still, i dont see her as very loud per say. None of my neighbors even know I HAVE a bird. She just wants to talk to you more than anything. I attribute the kitchen screams as "HEY. HEY! BRING ME SOMETHING. I WANT A SNACK!"

Other chasca screams are as follows:
"NO MOM I DONT WANNA SLEEP"
"MOM YOU WOKE UP LATE WTH. I WANT BREAKFAST"."
"HI MOM! HI!! WELCOME HOME!"
"HOW DARE YOU LEAVE ME IN HERE BY MYSELF. DONT YOU KNOW I COULD HURT MY- Oh hello mom. Welcome back."

Ken says she yells Step Up and Good Bird when I'm not home, to get his attention. Mom's a sucker.

She also yells at running water. More vocalization tho. Not sure what's up with that.

Mine is about a 2. She will talk and chatter a bit if there is movement around her but nothing loud . If she is in a room alone she is mostly silent. If she hears the microwave she will screech if she feels like no food is coming her way. She has trained us well to offer food anytime the microwave runs. That is really the only time she gets loud - she wants something to eat besides her standard.

Have you tried to take her to the running water? Most love water - I suspect she wants in it.

She -just- talks to the water. She doesn't want -in- it.
She just... chatters at it. It's really cute. She avoids the actual substance.
I've found out she's been taking baths in her water dish, which is the only willing way she will have a bath.
She's getting better about it with time. I took her to the shower with me once and sat her on the towel rack. She chattered the entire time. Seemed to enjoy it.
