Hi I was wandering if anyone had any homemade parakeet toy ideas?

I made this for my GCC but it would work for a parakeet as well. I put bits of food and balsa wood in the straws so she can forage for them.

I made this toilet paper roll toy for my parakeet and I want to hang it in his cage. Does anyone have ideas on what I can use to hang it that would be safe?

For parakeet you can use:

Balsa wood
cardboard
paper straws
paper
etc

string together with, paper rope, jute rope or any other natural material.

Of course you can get fancier with
sola
vine shapes
etc

This is a toy i made for a parakeet: untreated balsa wood, paper straws, and paper at the bottom.

Here are some bird toy ideas from my side:

1) Bird forager box- we have seen this in the market and you can make this yourself!
First, make 2 paper boxes without using glue or staples or anything like that... you can look online on how to make it, after making those two, pin a hole using a safety pin (SAFETY PIN WPRKS SOOOOO GOOD) at the bottom, and also pin out holes at the side using a puncher (you can use the back side of a pencil if you don't have it) put some crinkled paper inside, treats, some beads, half popsicle sticks, pieces of cardboard etc and put the second box on top of the first one (REMEMBER TO THREAD ONE OF THE BOX INTO SOME PIECE OF STRING BEFORE PUTTING IT IN ALL OF THAT STUFF)... you can also do the same using thin cardboard.

2) Popsicle sticks- this one's a rather classic one, take some popsicles pin holes in all of them using a safety pin thread into a piece of string and there you have it.

3) Shreddable toy- take some cardborad, paper and corn husk (basically when you buy a corn cob it often comes with some husk, take that husk out soak in warm water for 20-30 minutes, rinse well, let it dry and boom!, you have a great shredding material) thread all of them into a piece of string and some beads and you're done.

4) foraging toy- take some finger traps and paper muffin cups, put some crinkled paper and treats in the muffin cups, put all of them on a piece of string and you're done.

5) pinata thingy- take a toilet paper roll make some small holes and stick paper straws out of it, this is a foot toy.

6) foraging one again- take a small piece of paper (like 5 by 5 cm) put in a wheat berry or something, wrap the paper all around the seed, pin a hole using a safety pin and thread it onto a piece of string, add some beads, plastic stuff (like you get from kinder joy) and you're done!

7) rattan ball one- purchase some rattan balls (specifically for bird toys), thread them, add some popsicles and once again you're done.

String that I use- you know those wired bound notebooks, like art files?... I take out that string and straighten them (I basically keep 2 heavy books on both sides and it straightens over night) then I put in the toy parts and yup. It's REALLY HARD PLASTIC, so no worries. I don't know if anyone else uses this, but I do, IT'S EXCELLENT. Please help me spread this idea. Good for small and medium sized birds

Clip that I use for hanging- cloth pins (plastic ones)

I'll update if I get more ideas. Thanks

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, OR WANT TO KNOW IN DETAIL HOW TO MAKE THESE TOYS. PLEASE DON'T HESITATE TO ASK.
