I just bought a ton of safe sisal at Ace. And yeah, you can definitely tell by smell. The untreated stuff just smells.. natural. Smells good, to me. The treated stuff smells bad.

I hate to bring up a old thread but I purchased 100% Sisal to wrap some perches. I just noticed it says 100% Sisal treated but does not smell bad like suggested. Just smells like well rope LOL
I fully wrapped a 5 ft perch and that is when I notice. Kinda rough on hands but did not really smell bad.
Should I just trash it ?
Only caution said do no t use for overhead lifting or in applications which could result in physical injury.
The people at the shop I bought it told me it was ok for use in a Parrot cage. Said they sold it all the time .
