Very sorry for your loss! It is never easy to lose a Parrot to an illness, it is even worst to witness the taking of your much loved Parrot by a Raptor. The reality is that the Raptor was only doing what is natural and sadly your Bogart was caught-up in that.

Raptors are on a very active increase over very large areas of North American and everyone needs to change the what and how they have their Parrot's outside.

Once again, very sorry for your loss!
Warm Feather Hugs!

My deepest condolences for the loss of Bogart. Always traumatic, may you be comforted by his memories.

Deepest condolences for your tragic loss. I'm sorry Bogart's happy life ended so abruptly and in such violent circumstances. My thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Nature is so cruel at times.

Note to all our readers: Please beware, don't let this happen to you!

Oh, Jezz what a way to loose ones parrot! I am very sorry for your tragic lose. Everyone should take a lesson from this... parrots are prey animals. Keep it in mind anytime you have your parrot outside and not in a cage. Your sorrow is ours too.

Absolutely heartbreaking, I can't even imagine.
So very sorry for your loss.

an unbelievable thing happened...i african gray was found alive! i saw the hawk out of my window with bogart..so what happened? maybe the hawk came in to grab him and ended up chasing him for a while..it was fast and i only saw this through a window..my african lasted 2 nights and was found about 3 miles away..he looked a little rough and was very hungry..boy was i missing him.

Thats amazing! Awesome news! You must be so relieved :D I'd love to see pictures of him. I would suggest especially now the hawk knows there is a Boggart and where he lives, that he is no longer outside without a cage or harness.

You got really lucky! That must have been a young Hawk!!!

Please take your Gray to your CAV (Certified Avian Vet). The combination of the days in the great outdoors and the encounter with the Hawk really supports doing this.

Oh my god! You are so lucky to have him back!

yes, be especially careful with him going outside. I'm seeing more and more stories of hawks in the US

OMG, that is good news, you and Boggart are very very lucky. Give the birdie a lot of love , he has been traumatized.

A miracle indeed, talk about second chances. I wonder how negatively this experience has altered his overall wellbeing? He must have been scared out of his mind. Thank God he survived this horrific ordeal. Please keep us posted on how he's recovering. (Mentally & physically)

I hope your Grey gave that bird a bite to remember him by.
So glad you got him back.

Fantastic and a one-in-a-billion save! So surprised and thankful you and Bogart have a second chance. He must be extraordinarily traumatized, and a vet well-check would be helpful.

I hope the closest he gets to another raptor is through the safe side of a window!

Please keep us updated with his progress!
