Well when I wasa child my parents raised Macaws in Germany I rememeber a few birds I could have lived without ever meeting.
But overall I enjoyed sharing a place with them.
Well now I am here and up until now I really never had a livestyle that would fit a large bird.
Now i do and on Monday I am picking up an 18 year old female Blue and Gold Macaw.
I am so looking forward to her coming here I hope things will work out.

Welcome to the forums and good luck with your new family member.....

I am worried a little because she is older but I will work on getting to know her.

Just sitting by their cage, while reading or just talking to talking to her, will go a long way to calming birds down.....

Yes I am planning on that for sure I won't push her.
I want to start with her the right way she is a large bird that can do some damage if I push her.

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on your macaw! Please keep us posted!

Welcome to the forum!!! Have you gone to visit her to interact with her? It is a good way to tell how they will do with you and if they would require extensive training after arriving in your home. I train all my birds from day one unless they were in absolute terror skittish mode, then I cut back to let them get adjusted first before attempting.

Hi there FIREBLADE, and welcome to the forum. :)

You must be SO excited about the upcoming arrival of your B&G. :)

You said your parents raised macaws in Germany? Where about? I was born and raised there. ;)

Don't be!

I think my oldest rehab was 55... they respond to love, a good environment, and nurturing guidance...

If you know how to raise and handle macaws it should be fine.

I was planning on giving her a day in a quiet room just to relax befor I see where she is at.
