I already posted in the conure forum, but forgot to make a "hello" post here, so here it is!
I'm Dawn, I'm 29 and live in South Florida with my boyfriend, 2 rescue dogs and Pino, our green cheeked conure. We also have 2 budgies and used to have a Timneh African Grey named Sachi. Our work schedules are demanding and Sachi wasn't getting enough attention - one of my girlfriends fell in love with her so she now lives at her house, where she is happily attended to by 5 people - and I see her often.
When I decided we should get another bird, I didn't take it lightly as I know it's a huge commitment. While Sachi is happy now, I didn't want to put another bird through being re-homed. I have had green cheeks in the past and just love them - while they do of course need attention I felt like one would handle our sometimes awful schedules a lot better than Sachi - who is just too smart for her own good.
So far, so good! Pino is out in the morning before we go to work and then when we get home in the evening. He has more toys than he knows what to do with and listens to the radio all day.
Next step - getting him in his aviator harness!
