help with tree identification??

anyone know what tree this is and if its safe for birds?? It also gets long green/yellow stringy things in summer. I'm north of Atlanta, GA and these trees grown by my creek I would like to use some of the larger branches for bird stuff but don't know if its safe.

Have no idea, but GA's got a pretty good extension agent service, take some by your local agent's office, or you might find them in here:

In your area, i would use Pecan , hickory and Ash.

from using that link I gathered that this tree is definitely a


RIVER BIRCH
or
SWEET BIRCH

which I read is safe for them
