Help with aloe detox please

After reading the good things about aloe detox, I bought some. I thought I'd have it as a "just in case", as I'm not sure if you can use it if there's nothing wrong with your bird already.

The one I got was this (as I thought this was the one most are using) .......

Two of the ingredients are Buckthorn and Burdock, which are on the "toxic for birds" lists. So I'm not sure if it's ok or not.

When I asked on Lily of the Desert's Facebook and told them it was for parrots, they told me I needed to be getting the "aloe vera 80 detox formula" which I can't actually find anywhere on their website. The only "80" products I can see are hair and body stuff..... Our Products | Lily of the DesertLily of the Desert

I've looked online at the "aloe vera 80 detox" and the bottle looks like this .....

This "80" one has different ingredients in (and not the Buckthorn, which is meant to be toxic) and, as I said, I can't find it on their own website. So I'm more confused than ever.

Can someone let me know which is the right one please and if the Buckthorn or Burdock will be harmful. Also, is it just if they are already ill or does anyone use it as just a beneficial tonic and in what quantities please (I have a Senegal). Thank you.

I used the 80 with Pecker.

And it is said to improve their liver function. I gave the left overs that Peck didn't drink to the rest of my flock.

Oh right, thank you. I think I've bought the wrong one then. I just couldn't see the 80 one on their website.
Being in the UK, it was hard enough to get the other one. I'll have to have a look round and see if I can get that one instead.

I am using the one you bought. This is the first time I heard mentioned anything about the other (80). 50/50 with water for one week out of the month. I wont know if it was beneficial to Chico until his next labs in two months.

Thank you. Maybe I'm ok with this one then. I've been looking for the 80 one, as was too scared to give him the one I've got him, because of the Buckthorn and Burdock.

I know the 80 one has the same ingredients as the Naturade aloe detox that everyone raves about. I just found it strange that Lily of the Desert told me to get the 80 one, and yet I couldn't find it on their site. :/

Here's hoping you get good results with it for your Chico.

My bird wouldn't touch the stuff when I mixed it with water. But when I mixed it with apple juice, they sucked up their fill of it.

Sorry to bump up my own thread but I'm still looking in the UK for the "80" formula (the second pic) from Lily of the Desert - as was told from Lily of the Desert that's the one I need. I can't find it anywhere.

Is the original one I bought (the first pic) ok to use, if I can't find the 80 one? I'm just neurotic about the Burdock and Buckthorn (even though the 80 one has Burdock in also - though it has other different ingredients).

Sorry for rambling and not understanding properly - my MS is playing up and I'm having a foggy brain kinda day/year.

Since Aloe Detox is a liquid I questioned how much was ingested by Chico with his water. I am trying a powdered form of milk thistle and Dandelion root which I know he is eating.

Chico's labs came in and all areas showed improvement except one. His cholesterol is through the roof at 2500. As his diet improved his cholesterol went up? The Avian Vet suggested milk thistle extract as a supplement.

That is a bit odd. Was there some particularly favorite food that's high in cholesterol that he might be eating?

The Lilly of the desert stuff had milk thistle in it, I believe. It's been a number of years since I used it, but I think it was aloe, milk thistle, and dandilion root, and no one really knew which of these three was the active ingredient, of if it was some combination of all of them, producing the results...

I've heard lots of back and forth on this one.

All I know is I got wonderful results using this stuff with Pecker...
