I live in germany
Parrots
I have 1 4 yr.old BF amozon parrot
can anyone please tell me why my parrot Lucy would be picking on her leg the skin is very dry there and she has stopped for several days and the feathers are growing back, but I fear she is at it again. I can not take her to the vet until next month because of funds. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks very much.

Only a vet would be able to tell you with certainty IF it is a health issue. Giardia and/or metal poisoning "could" be a possible cause.

Have you checked for mites?

How often does Lucy get a bath?

Hopefully you've stopped using the zinc oxide cream.

There are some nice bath salts that can help get rid of mites and condition the skin/feathers at the same time. I would try them before going to the vet especially if I have funds constraints. Cheers!

What bath salts??
I am using this. Versele-Laga Ideal Bath Salt for Pigeons. 2 weeks already and my boy Zoro stopped chewing his tail feathers and his plumage exhibits a more brilliant green. He also enjoyed his bath time more, maybe due to the calming effect of the Epsom salts.
