My parents want me to come home for christmas.

Problem is I can't find anyone to take care of my birds so I have to bring them with me... and my mother has a conure with beak and feather disease.

If I leave my birds in the OPPOSITE END OF THE HOUSE. Upstairs and in my room away from his small corner of the downstairs...
Will they be fine? :/

I have no real choice but to bring them and I'm horribly worried x.x.

Absolutely do not take your parrots with you! Our first grey died of that disease and it's extremely contagious. I'd either board your birds or don't go.

what she said!!! Don't do it...

AND IF YOU DO GO WASH EVERYTHING THOROUGHLY BEFORE HANDLING YOUR BIRDS, THIS MEANS YOUR CLOTHES, YOUR SHOES, AND YOURSELF!

Youre going to have to find a sitter or something. Even sharing the same airspace can cause contamination and it is not worth the risk.

I would find someone or not go home for xmas. Your birds health is most definitely at stake here.

No they won't x.x

The other option is leaving them with my in laws or sister.

Who don't live far away. I could just possibly do that and travel back and forth to take care of them during my stay.

None of these folks have birds so... would that be a good alternative?

My vet doesn't board I already looked into it x.x

Your sister in law sounds like a great option.
As you mentioned they do not have birds and you would be able to see them during your stay.

Sorry I do no mean to sound harsh here....
If you took the birds with to your mum and something tragically happened, you would never get over it knowing it was your fault and could have been prevented.

Yes. Most people can cope with a bird for a few days if given proper instruction :)

Id rather your bird/people be uncomfortable for a few days than your bird get sick but make sure everyone is on board with the idea. If you can visit during stay too thats great but ensure youve changed clothes/ washed hair between bird visits etc because even a little bit of dander being crossed through clothing can carry it :(

I'm going to drop them off at my sisters house :3.

The first week I'll be at my in laws so thats not an issue... the last five or so will be at my parents, but Rebecca is only an hour away from them so I'll leave them with her and doing that there will be no risk of contamination period :3.

That should be the best option for everyone, she already volunteered so... and Porter does fine away from me for a few days at a time ^^.

I have no real options in the matter, the woman who normally watches them for me just got served custody papers and I don't want to make her have more to deal with.

If Rebecca is happy & bird savvy then I'm sure all will work out fine :)

I appreciate the harshness.

If I could find anyone here I totally would. I just called my sister, the birds will stay with her for the duration of my stay! Thank you everyone for making my worry not seem foolish. I seriously wasn't sure if I was overreacting x.x.

And don't forget not to let your contaminated cloths come in contact with your car upholstry. Send them straight to the washing machine, then into your car.

Is your brother doing anything to treat his sick conure?
Sorry, just have to ask.
