help me please!!!!

Oh relief! Thanks, Amanda, for the update. I'm so glad Angel is fine! What a freak accident that was - who'd think a big bird like a macaw could bite off more than he could chew like that? It just goes to show how careful we have to be with what we give our birds, I guess. Mine get wood chewies all the time and it never occurred to me they could actually choke on a piece!

Amanda, please give Angel a kiss from Trish in Australia and tell him the Beaks send their very best wishes. :)

Amanda, so happy you were able to figure out the picture posting! Hope you slept well last night after the day you had. How is Angel today?
So excited to see pics of this beauty we have heard so much about;)

Yes we took him to a local hospital, it was pretty late last night when this happened. But, yeah he got blood work, some meds, and did all kinds of tests. We are still waiting because if it was a seizure and didn't have anything to do with the wood we will find out through the blood work! Hopefully. He seems very aggitated today. He is hootin and hollering and throwing his food around : ( I hate being so helpless.

....and mods!:D

oh my!....you and your bird are so very fortunate!

is it possible to post a picture of the toy that he was chewing?

If I may make a request?? maybe one of the mods can move the picture(when and if Amanda posts it) into the 'dangers of toys thread"......

You sure weren't helpless yesterday when you saved his life:) Hopefully that was all it was, and that it was not a seizure. I wonder if he is agitated because his mouth hurts where the wood was stuck, or maybe he is upset at the loss of his wood toys? Could just be a combination of everything he went through yesterday.:D
Glad to hear from you today!

That response was for miketn. But yes ladies I was up pretty late last night transferring pictures to the tablet to upload them here! I put pretty much every member of my FAM cause we only have one bird! A few profiles I have seen there are LOTS of birds : ) I have been trying to get my mom to get angel a friend for so long!! But yeah! The wood thing is crazy, he has had plenty of wooden toys but this one was different it was just a long block of wood with a bell on the bottom. I just don't like how he is right now, he seems so mad and stressed we made an appt. With reg vet for this afternoon cause we did go to Hosp. So well see what she says.

Sure I can post a picture of it! Put it in the albums? Or is there a way to put it directly on the thread?

ABSOLUTELY!!!! :)

I truly think this goes to show you that even a simple piece of wood can be hazardous.

Amanda, you saved your baby's life last night!! Your quick thinking and actions are exemplary!! HATS OFF TO YOU!!! :)

Hello, Amanda. I'm so glad to see that Angel seems to be okay. I was pretty much on the edge of my seat reading through your thread. You were understandably shaken up but, as quite a few have already pointed out, you responded very well under pressure.

And those were beautiful pics of your family. Thanks for sharing.

Amanda, I just saw all the pictures in your album and you and your family (human, feathered and furry) are stunning:) Thank you for sharing!

Thanks so much ladies! I felt very helpless and scared! He seems to be back to himself, as I just returned from work! Sorry the delay I didn't realize the time when I was talking earlier and left myself 10 minutes to get dressed and be out the door lol! I'm going to upload the toy right now I'm about to take a picture of his red blotches, and the toy! His face is much worse today...,it is slowly turning purple. So I'm going to go upload those now. And again thanks for the compliments on my family! I love them. Hopefully you all can see what I'm talking about with this wood.

Thanks so much ladies!
Uhm... while most of your responses were indeed from the lovely ladies of this forum, I am very much a dude. :p Lol!

Understandable mix up. My username is a nod to my heritage. Anansi is a popular Jamaican folk tale character. (Taken from Ananasi, a popular African folk tale character, but I digress.) It was my wife who pointed out that people unfamiliar with said character might mistake the name as female. Ah. Hindsight truly is 20/20. Smh.)

I'm really glad that Angel seems to be back to herself. Hopefully the splotches fade in time, like black&blues would for one of us. Did the vet voice any concerns about them?
