Help for these guys

We could do the amazons (possibly the grays) depending on if they want a reasonable price or not.

RescueMe, I could foster anything but a macaw. I dont have experience with them at all other than talking to them at my local pet store.

It would be wonderful if these babies can get out of the sad situation they are in and live out their lives being loved pets instead of breeders.

I totally agree Rio Mom. I think it's so sad when people have birds or any pets for that matter locked up in cages for breeding purposes. It's pure greed. Makes me sick. They have to be heartless people. How could anyone think they could be happy in a filthy cage with no toys, probably no human interaction. It's just sick.

Unfortunaly breeders see these birds as livestock. Sadly animal abuse would fall short by measure of law.

The real problem is demand. It's been a problem in the pet bird industry for years. As long as there is a market for pet birds there will be breeders.

Heartless? I can't tell. Some of these people are on the edge financialy and are just giving people what they want, cute babies and to hell with the parents. maybe it's more like no buisness ethics.

This a tough topic as it easy to pontificate but where did our birds come from ? Some know the breeders the rest of us.......

I'm not looking to defend anyone just being a realist .

This is why I can't be concerned about the "how's and whys" just the rehoming of these birds.

Thanks to all willing to step up lets see what we end up with.

I agree with Tarkus, its tough to say why this happened to these birds, or how they are cared for. Its impossible to make a real judgement without seeing the birds in their "home". That being said I am always saddened by any animal who doesn't have the life they deserve. The best we can do is be an advocate for animal welfare, help where we can, and educate those who need it.

I of course am bothered by the M2 on the list (esp since its spelled wrong) and the sulfer crested is super cute. I've always wanted a GW (oddly enough even though thats the worst bite I've ever had - I still find them fascinating). I'm worried though about the 'breeder' birds part, why are there so many singles? I kind of expected most of them to be pairs but the majority on the list are listed as a single. What happened to the mates of these birds?

I'm trying to work on Tommy. He doesn't want anymore birds until we move (1-2 years from now), and I dont think he would allow anymore Toos. I on the other hand would take any M2 out there. He did catch me by surprise teh other day and was asking questions about macaws. With that in mind I might possibly be interested in the GW but only if Tommy comes around to the idea.

Tarkus I know you'll keep us posted, I wish I could take all the Toos off your hands. A part of me feels that since I deal so well with them that I owe it to the species to have them (re-homes of course, I would never get a baby of any kind). Mims is really not that far from me, I'll see what I can do.

That picture of the sulfer crested on the ground and that poor poor little amazon really bothers me.

Its a shame you haven't heard anything yet. I can take the GW depending on what they want for it.

Tarkus, even if I end up not being able to take any of them I can most definitely help move them.

I sent one earlier and havent heard anything. If they have to get rid of them for medical reasons, it could be awhile before anything is heard, sadly.

Yeah could be. There are also a bunch of "backyard breeders" in that area so another may have made a deal on the flock.

I sent another email from a different IP address pretending to be a small breeder in north Florida. Let's see if that makes a difference.
