2 of the 5 HATCHED against all odds. They are perfect and growing fast and are amazingly LOUD! Both Mom and Dad are keeping their crops bulgingly full and it is awesome to watch.
Since I was told that male budgies don't help incubate eventhough Dayton definately did, I am wondering if the males normally help with the feedings. ?
Also, right now the other budgies are staying away from the nest. When the babies start venturing out will the others try to harm them in anyway or will they treat them as though they belong?
How long before they are weened? When will they get feathers? There is already a few tiny pins on them.
Can they peep while still in the eggs? I swear, the day before the 1st hatched, I heard peeping, but when I checked everyone was still an egg. Is that possible?
Lastly, I have heard that splay legs is often a problem. If that is to happen would it have already or do I need to keep checking?
Can't wait to see what they're going to look like. Lexus is an albino and Dayton is a georgeous combo of the brightest yellow and green. I just hope that neither have inherited the problematic albino eyes.
They are 6 and 5 days old. YAY!!!!!!
